In the last couple of years, I’ve become more interested in learning how to cook and bake. It doesn’t hurt that when you get married you get all these new fun kitchen tools. I’ve started a little collection of cookbooks and found that I love reading and looking through cookbooks. I see a bigger cookbook collection in my future and I’m not even mad about it.
I am by no means an expert at cooking but I’ve found a couple cookbooks that are great for beginners or anyone looking for simple and quick recipes. Years ago, my sister turned me onto Shay Shull’s blog. Her blog is one of my favorites for many reasons but one of them is that she posts some great recipes and in the last couple of years, she’s been publishing cookbooks! Her recipes are so simple and there aren’t tons of ingredients to them. When I’m meal planning for the week, I always turn to her books first. You can find them on Amazon here.
I came across Six Sisters’ Stuff when I was looking through the books at Costco one day. I bought the Dinner Made Easy cookbook and have loved their recipes as well. They are such quick recipes and for someone learning to cook, they don’t scare me away from trying them out. You can see all of their cookbooks here.
They also have a meal planning subscription that my sister uses for her family. They email her a meal plan for the week that includes the recipes (with pictures!) and the grocery shopping list. I love that you can even customize it to your family size and I think they even have gluten-free options.
If you have tried out any of these cookbooks or have some favorites you think I should try, I would love to hear about it!
