My New Year’s Resolutions

Happy Tuesday, friends! Are you resolution makers? Because I am not. And I’ve even tried to trick myself into resolutions by saying to myself, “You don’t even have to tell anybody!” but I’m here to tell you, that didn’t work either.

However, there are a lot of things I want to do this year and I’m feeling extra motivated to post it here so that I will feel somewhat responsible to update you guys on the progress. I also decided that it would be easier to make general resolutions instead of ones with an actual amount or date to hit. Then I won’t feel as discouraged when I’m nowhere near meeting that goal.

Okay so here goes nothing!


Here’s another shameless plug about Rifle Paper Co. – I went to Anthropologie last week and bought myself a new planner so I’m ready for the year!

Eat Healthier

You all know I love fries with a passion for fashion but I’m trying to ease out of that obsession for a bit. I’m sure I’ll squeeze it in there somewhere when I can but word on the street is that I need to be eating way more protein (wah wah). I’ve been eating so much more protein than I ever have dating Cody because we eat steak or prime rib quite a bit. It’s really not a bad problem to have. However, I need more so I’ll be letting you know about ways to incorporate more protein into your diet when I figure it all out.

Go to the Gym More Often

I did not set a quantity for this because I knew I would see the amount and be like, F that. But I did meet with a personal trainer yesterday at the gym and signed up to train with her twice a week. I’m really excited because I’m less likely to cancel or decide I don’t want to go when there’s an actual appointment with someone I don’t know. I did a FIT session with her yesterday to see where I was at and it kicked my butt. By the end, I was fighting back nausea and pleading with myself not to throw up. I even excused myself to sit outside in 30-degree weather so my body would calm down lol. Anyway, once the nausea subsided, I walked back inside and said, “Sign me up”. I’ll keep you updated.

Read More Books

I love to read. I really do! When I was younger, I would read a ton of books all the time. It wasn’t until I got into junior high and high school where I was forced to read books for classes that I really stopped reading regularly. I still read books but I hate being forced to do anything tbh. Now that I’m starting my last semester of college ever, I decided this goal needed to make its way back into my life.

Write More Calligraphy

I think I mentioned this in my Christmas recap but my sister got me a brush calligraphy class & kit from Melissa Esplin at Calligraphy.org. I’m stoked to start it because I’ve really wanted to sit down and just do it but I keep making excuses, especially when I see other people’s amazing calligraphy skills! I’ll try to share more things as I keep practicing.

Take More Pictures

I have a cute Polaroid camera that I never use because I keep telling myself I’ll take it on special events and I forget it EVERY SINGLE TIME. So my goal is to start bringing it along with me and just take pictures. Not just with that but I need to take more pictures with my phone. I know everyone says that you need to live in the moment and take mental pictures and I agree 100% but I also look back through my phone and realize I have nothing to share or for me to look at later. Hopefully this will help me share more of my experiences with you guys!
