My New Year’s Resolutions

Happy Tuesday, friends! Are you resolution makers? Because I am not. And I’ve even tried to trick myself into resolutions by saying to myself, “You don’t even have to tell anybody!” but I’m here to tell you, that didn’t work either.

However, there are a lot of things I want to do this year and I’m feeling extra motivated to post it here so that I will feel somewhat responsible to update you guys on the progress. I also decided that it would be easier to make general resolutions instead of ones with an actual amount or date to hit. Then I won’t feel as discouraged when I’m nowhere near meeting that goal.

Okay so here goes nothing!

Here’s another shameless plug about Rifle Paper Co. – I went to Anthropologie last week and bought myself a new planner so I’m ready for the year!

Eat Healthier

You all know I love fries with a passion for fashion but I’m trying to ease out of that obsession for a bit. I’m sure I’ll squeeze it in there somewhere when I can but word on the street is that I need to be eating way more protein (wah wah). I’ve been eating so much more protein than I ever have dating Cody because we eat steak or prime rib quite a bit. It’s really not a bad problem to have. However, I need more so I’ll be letting you know about ways to incorporate more protein into your diet when I figure it all out.

Go to the Gym More Often

I did not set a quantity for this because I knew I would see the amount and be like, F that. But I did meet with a personal trainer yesterday at the gym and signed up to train with her twice a week. I’m really excited because I’m less likely to cancel or decide I don’t want to go when there’s an actual appointment with someone I don’t know. I did a FIT session with her yesterday to see where I was at and it kicked my butt. By the end, I was fighting back nausea and pleading with myself not to throw up. I even excused myself to sit outside in 30-degree weather so my body would calm down lol. Anyway, once the nausea subsided, I walked back inside and said, “Sign me up”. I’ll keep you updated.

Read More Books

I love to read. I really do! When I was younger, I would read a ton of books all the time. It wasn’t until I got into junior high and high school where I was forced to read books for classes that I really stopped reading regularly. I still read books but I hate being forced to do anything tbh. Now that I’m starting my last semester of college ever, I decided this goal needed to make its way back into my life.

This is my lineup for this year so far:

Big Little Lies – Liane Moriarty
Crazy Rich Asians – Kevin Kwan
China Rich Girlfriend – Kevin Kwan
Rich People Problems – Kevin Kwan
Mindhunter – John Douglas & Mark Olshaker
The Handmaid’s Tale – Margaret Atwood
The Graveyard Book – Neil Gaiman

I’m really very excited because all these books sound amazing! What books are you guys reading right now?

Write More Calligraphy

I think I mentioned this in my Christmas recap but my sister got me a brush calligraphy class & kit from Melissa Esplin at Calligraphy.org. I’m stoked to start it because I’ve really wanted to sit down and just do it but I keep making excuses, especially when I see other people’s amazing calligraphy skills! I’ll try to share more things as I keep practicing.

Take More Pictures

I have a cute Polaroid camera that I never use because I keep telling myself I’ll take it on special events and I forget it EVERY SINGLE TIME. So my goal is to start bringing it along with me and just take pictures. Not just with that but I need to take more pictures with my phone. I know everyone says that you need to live in the moment and take mental pictures and I agree 100% but I also look back through my phone and realize I have nothing to share or for me to look at later. Hopefully this will help me share more of my experiences with you guys!

Are you making a resolution? Do you have suggestions for anything I mentioned above? I’d love to hear from you!
Wish me luck!
xoxo

Thank You Cards

I’m thankful for so many things this year and I like showing my gratitude, especially if it’s to someone that may not know it. I think November is a great month to start getting into the habit of regularly showing people you’re thankful for them because it shouldn’t just be for one month only. One of my favorite ways to thank others is by giving them handwritten cards.

I LOVE THANK YOU CARDS. I love getting them and I love giving them. It shows that someone really thought about you and took the time to pick out a card and write you a note. I have probably 6 or 7 packs of different thank you cards at my desk at work that I like to write out every once in a while. Sometimes it takes everything in me not to write a thank you card to someone that wrote me one. (It’s a little excessive,ย supposedly.) I can’t tell you how happy and moved I am when I get back to my desk after a long or rough day and I find a card on my keyboard. It’s the best.

Rifle Paper Co. is a great place to get not only thank you cards but cards for weddings, birthdays, and holidays as well! I’ve ranted and raved about them before but they truly have some of the best cards. Look at all their greeting cards here.

Mermaid Thank You Available as a Single Folded Card or Boxed Set of 8

Beautiful Bride Available as a Single Folded Card or Boxed Set of 8

Aren’t they gorgeous? I drool over Anna Bond’s designs.

Another great place to get cute cards is Minted. If you haven’t heard of Minted, you’re in for a treat. They will do everything and I mean, EVERYTHING. You can personalize cards or order ones that are already made. You can make photo gifts and calendars. You can send out digital cards, etc. It’s amazing. But if you want a place to start, check out their thank you cards here.

You can personalize your name at the bottom!

"Flannel Thanks" - Whimsical & Funny Children's Stationery in Lumberjack Red by Allison Metcalfe.

"Indigo Print" - Bohemian Foil-pressed Thank You Cards in Navy by Pistols.

If you don’t want to order them online, places like Target and Papyrus sell Minted cards as well ๐Ÿ™‚

Speaking of Target and Papyrus, they sell a ton of thank you cards and cards in general. I’ve always been obsessed with stationary and paper goods. I don’t know why but pressed paper is my kryptonite.

You should also try these paper goods companies if you’re just as obsessed as I am ๐Ÿ™‚

How do you like showing your gratitude?

Desk Decor

Steph and I work at an office building where everyone has cubicles but being the cutesy and organized type-A personalities we are, it’s just another little home to decorate.

I hate having papers everywhere because it will literally distract me from any work I need to do. I’ll be typing away furiously and I’ll catch some loose papers out of the corner of my eye and all my concentration goes out the window. You may be the same kind of person so I decided to show you all my cubicle and where to get all the neat stuff that will help you organize your desk in the cutest way possible.

Even if you don’t work at an office building, these items will look great in a home office as well ๐Ÿ™‚

This is my cubicle! This is my home away from home. As you can see, I’ve got a few things to make it cute and comfy.

This tufted chair from Target is my favorite! When people come to visit me at my desk, I like to have a place for them to sit and hang out. A lot of you are probably like, ‘Why would you want your coworkers to hang around your desk? I hate mine’. But I lucked out working at a place where the people are pretty cool. I found this chair in the Target’s furniture clearance section about a year ago so I don’t think they have this exact one but check out their chairs here.

Chairs

Target has the cutest chairs!

The solid pale pink pillow is from Target as well and is so velvety soft, everyone wants to steal it. The cute ‘hello’ pillow is from my friend Morgan (HI MORGAN!) who moved to Nashville for a rockstar life and left us behind. JK Morgan, love you!

Throw Pillows

Check out Target’s super cute collection of throw pillows here.

My calendar is from Rifle Paper Co. and if you don’t know about them yet, you should. I’m in love with everything Anna Bond does. Every year, I buy their appointment calendar and it’s gorgeous. You can get 2019’s calendar by clicking on the picture below ๐Ÿ™‚ They also have smaller versions of their calendars that have maps of the world, inspirational quotes, lemons, and more!

Calendar

If you haven’t noticed yet, I definitely have a gold/pale pink theme going on. I used to hate pink growing up but I fell in love with the pale pink color and now I’m obsessed.

Having lights around my desk makes me feel happier. It’s the twinkle I feel I deserve. I got these lights from Amazon hereย for $11. I got some twine and clothespins from my friend Ally who is also super obsessed with desk decor and hung up some Polaroid-sized pictures. I like to print these out from an awesome place called Social Print Studio. You can get 24 of these square prints for $12. They’re such a good size that I printed some out for my room and hung them up there as well. Check them out by clicking their logo below!

The monitor stand (that I don’t use for my monitor) is from Target. I tried to find it online but it doesn’t look like it’s on their website. I’m pretty sure I saw it in store still though!

I bought my pretty scissors from Anthropologie. They are $16 and you can get them on their website by clicking the picture below ๐Ÿ™‚Slide View: 1: Rose Scissors

My letterboard is from Felt Like Sharing on Amazon. You can get your own here. They have so many cute colors you can choose from depending on what your color scheme is. I could really go for some cake right now.

My stapler was a gift from my friend Kaylyn and I love it! I’m just a sucker for gold things. I found it at Target and attached the link to the picture below.

I got the drawers from Target as well (Target for the win) and my friend Ally loved it so much that she bought one of her own. You can get it from their website here. It’s a great place to keep things nearby while maintaining the aesthetic.

I also keep an exercise ball (the yellow, spiky thing in the bottom left corner) at my desk for those days that I can’t keep sitting in a desk chair. It also is a great distraction for me during conference calls ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a mug and bowl set from Target that I love. I like having it so I’m not buying paper cups or paper bowls. Help out the environment, people.

I just recently bought this agenda from Anthropologie. It comes with a cute gold pen with black ink but I wanted a little more color so I chose a purple pen instead. You can get this planner from their website here.

That cute, hand-drawn picture of me with a large fry above the agenda was made by my friend Emily. She is so talented!! And she accurately captured my love for french fries.

You know how I hate loose papers? I decided to conquer this by getting a letter tray. I bought this little baby from Amazon and you can get yours here.

Pictures really make your area feel homey and remind you of all the people you get to hang out with after work so it’s perfect. That note on the left that looks like a small, pink notebook is from Rifle Paper Co. as well! You can get it for $8 on their website here.

I hope this helped you get started on decorating your office space. It’s so important to make sure that your workspace is somewhere you want to be! Otherwise, you’re going to dread every single moment. (Although let’s be real, most of us dread every single moment of work).

If you have any other ideas for decorating your space or just want to share them with us, comment below! We’d love to see it!

xoxo Michelle

What’s Really in my Bag?

I had an idea to do a post on what I carry in my bag and luckily for you guys, this wasn’t planned at all. I got the idea today when I was already at work so you could really see what I keep in there.

Since it’s summer, I’ve been carrying around this Kate Spade crossbody and it’s served me well. I paired this bag up with my last outfit of the day featured here. I got this bag in my Stitch Fix box (start your fix for free here) but you can also get it from Macy’s here.

This is everything I have in my bag at the moment! Just the essentials, obviously ๐Ÿ˜‰ Besides the sunnies, makeup mirror, keys, and hair ties (absolutely necessary in the Utah heat), here’s a blurb about the other important things.

You might recognize this wallet from our ode to Kate Spade post but I got this one from the surprise sale earlier this year. I haven’t been able to find it again but you can always shop her wallets on her website here.

I think Steph talked about a Lanolips ointment in her top 10 beauty products post but this one is a little different. This one literally smells like lemons and it completely soothes dry lips. I always have dry lips so I have to keep something around. I’ve been using this one for a bit and it’s great. I bought mine from Anthropologie when I was in store but you can get it on their website here.

Last night, I gave myself a pretty nice pedicure; everything but the polish. So I picked this Cute as a Button color because I love bright toes in the summer and threw it in my purse to paint real quick. You can get this color wherever Essie colors are sold but just in case you’re not sure, you can get it online at Target here.

Last but not least, this is my newest Kylie Cosmetics lipstick. This one is Bunny and it’s part of Khloe Kardashian’s collection with her sister’s line. It’s such a pretty color! It’s like a lavender mauve. You can get it here.

I’m glad my purse was pretty clean because normally, I have receipts everywhere and random candy like an 80-year-old. What do you have in your bag?
